Marcus Miller brings a career spanning jazz, R&B, and film scoring to City Winery Chicago, arriving with a resume built on both artistic mastery and purpose. With over 500 recording credits and dozens of film scores to his name, Marcus has spent decades shaping the sound of Black music and film, work that earned him recognition as a UNESCO Artist for Peace and a place on the Board of Directors for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz.
This is a musician whose influence runs as deep off stage as on it. Marcus composed the score for SIDNEY, the Apple TV+ documentary on Sidney Poitier produced by Oprah Winfrey, and co-created Black Movie Music, a series that catalogs the rich history of music in Black film. His work bridges genre and generation, from jazz to R&B to orchestral arrangement, always in service of the story being told.
Chicago gets a rare evening with an artist whose catalog reads like a history of American music itself, delivered by one of its most respected architects. Settle into our intimate room with a glass of our in-house wine and a plate built for sharing while the music takes shape.
Doors open ahead of the show for dinner, so come early and make an evening of it. Reserve your seats now for Marcus Miller at City Winery Chicago.
