651 ARTS continues its milestone 2025 Fall/Winter Season – the first full season in its permanent home in Downtown Brooklyn – with the premiere of Little Black Book, the debut stage play by award-winning Brooklyn-based poet and playwright Najee Omar. A powerful fusion of theater, poetry, music, and movement, Little Black Book is a bold and deeply personal meditation on love, identity, and the radical act of self-acceptance within the Black queer experience.

Through a rhythmic blend of language and live performance, Omar portrays a Brooklyn poet revisiting the men who shaped him, weaving together a tapestry of vulnerability, intimacy, and healing. Drawing from interviews with Black queer men across generations, Little Black Book transforms memory into a living archive—centering stories of tenderness and wholeness that transcend trauma. Directed by Kelly “GreenLight” Thomas, each show will be followed by a community talkback with Omar and the creative team.
