Acclaimed drummer Jaz Sawyer brings a remarkable combination of jazz tradition, classical training, and Afro-Caribbean influence to the stage. Raised in San Francisco’s vibrant Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, Sawyer developed his artistry through studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

Throughout his distinguished career, Sawyer has performed alongside jazz and music legends including Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, Abbey Lincoln, Bobby Hutcherson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Weston, and Herb Alpert. His artistry has taken him to some of the world’s most celebrated stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Blue Note, Kennedy Center, Sydney Opera House, The Concertgebouw, and Lincoln Center.
