Mike Monford is a Detroit-based saxophonist, composer, and jazz historian whose sound fuses deep jazz roots with hip-hop, soul, and Black musical traditions. A former student of Jackie McLean and protégé of Marcus Belgrave and Teddy Harris Jr., Monford honed his craft at iconic Detroit venues like Baker’s Keyboard Lounge. His career includes work with Grammy-winning pianist Marc Cary, bassist Bill Lee, as well as international tours with the acclaimed Afro-French duo Les Nubians. Marc Cary is a Grammy-winning pianist and composer whose work bridges jazz, go-go, and global rhythms. A former music director for Abbey Lincoln, he has performed with icons like Betty Carter and Roy Hargrove. Cary is also the founder of The Harlem Sessions, a collective dedicated to progressive improvisation and community-centered jazz. Gengis Don is a drummer, producer, and songwriter whose sound combines his deep knowledge of Hip Hop and his study of jazz/improvisational music. This Brooklyn native has worked with some of the world’s best artists, including Roy Hargrove, Solange, and Bilal.
