Moondog ecstatically welcomes MOTHABOARD, “a Chicago-Detroit sonic duo that blends improvisation, tradition and healing frequencies. Comprised of Angel Bat Dawid and Sophiyah E, the group crafts a Midwestern explosion of sound rooted in elevating collective consciousness through experimental jazz and sound art.”

“Detroit native Sophiyah E. is a multi-sensory artist, sound meditation practitioner + cultural conduit utilizing education, community organization, advocacy design and music production as a holistic practice to deepen connections for integrative wellness, legacy building and narrative agency. Angel Bat Dawid is a Black American composer, improviser, clarinetist, pianist, vocalist, educator, and DJ celebrated for her impactful contributions to contemporary jazz and Black cultural expression.

Together, MOTHABOARD creates immersive, frequency-driven performances that emphasize spiritual healing, cultural remembrance, and sonic innovation.”

The duo is joined in collaborative performance by special guest Onyx Ashanti, a Detroit-based artist, inventor, open source advocate and “cyborg musician.” We also welcome multi-instrumentalist, producer, internationally-in-demand DJ and head of Maybee Hill Music, Julion De’Angelo who will be soundtracking the before-and-after of MOTHABOARD’s performance.
