A Dominican New York transplant, Ricky G came up the ranks as a guitarist in San Diego, eventually landing with legendary saxophonist and hometown hero Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe (The Rolling Stones/Greyboy Allstars). Ricky is recently released his debut 7” record, Oak Street Blues, an homage to vintage crescent city funk, recorded in New Orleans; featuring bass icon George Porter Jr. (The Meters, Runnin Pardeners), keyboardist Kevin Lum (English Beat), and drummers Alfred Jordan (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe) and Deven Trusclair (Dumpstaphunk, Tank and The Bangas)

Ricky G has performed with legendary funk, rock, and jazz artists throughout his career, including George Porter Jr., Robert Randolph, Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Keyon Harrold, Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones/Allman Brothers/George Harrison/Eric Clapton/John Mayer), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones/Herbie Hancock), Daniel Ponder, Kenneth Crouch (Terrace Martin, DJ Quik, Brandy, Mark Anthony) and Lige Curry (Parliament Funkadelic) to name a few. He’s also worked closely with Grammy Award Winning Producer Kamau Kenyatta (Gregory Porter-Liquid Spirit/Take Me to the Alley).
