The Billie Holiday Theatre presents another installment of its celebrated music series Billie & Beyond with a special evening featuring Haitian-American singer, songwriter, and actress Lala. Born and raised in Hell’s Kitchen, Lala first rose to prominence as a performer in Lincoln Center’s revival of South Pacific, where she appeared as Ngana on Broadway. She went on to land roles in hit films including Spike Lee’s Son of the South and Chris Rock’s Top Five, and has appeared in television favorites such as Netflix’s The Politician and TBS’s Are We There Yet?

For her Billie debut, Lala delivers a lush blend of R&B and smoky jazz, joined by host Shanelle Gabriel, a DJ set by Que Sera, and an opening performance from globally renowned vocalist Daria Jones. A vibrant night of music, community, and culture, Billie & Beyond uplifts the next generation of powerful women in music while honoring the legacy of Billie Holiday.
