The Brownsville-raised New York Hip-Hop artist Masta Ace first came on the scene in the late 1980s, delivering next-level rhymes as part of Marley Marl’s Juice Crew alongside Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie and Kool G. Rap. A series of influential albums followed his 1990 solo debut, providing the fertile ground that has raised Masta Ace’s latest project, the cabaret-style stage show The Falling Season. On stage at Lincoln Center for the first time as a headliner, Masta Ace tells the story of a promising young man on the verge of leaving his past behind to attend college in Atlanta in the summer of 1988. Loosely inspired by Masta Ace’s personal journey, this musical theater work explores themes of ambition, survival, loyalty and the price of choices made under pressure. Through vivid lyrics and emotionally charged storytelling, The Falling Season blends Hip-Hop and biography into a raw and authentic narrative, offering a street-smart musical unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
